Maintenance

Maintenance of the pillow

Remove and clean the head pillows, using soap and water and a cloth or soft brush, as required. To protect the shine and watertight seal, administer a high quality conditioning solution at least once a month. (FAST GLOSS, available from our web shop). When using chemicals to clean the spa, always remove the pillows. Once the ppm value of the disinfectant has decreased to 5 ppm or less, you may reattach the pillows.

Maintenance of the Spa enclosure

The wooden enclosure of a spa requires maintenance. The wood is best maintained when treated, twice a year, with a high quality hardwood oil which you can find in our web shop.
The optional plastic enclosure requires little to no maintenance. Using a clean towel and some cleaning detergent will suffice. WARNING: Be careful never to use a high pressure cleaner on the enclosure, as this may damage the wood or plastic, or cause a short circuit if the water enters the vents and reaches the electrical equipment.

Maintenance of the cover

Using the spa cover when the spa is not in use will save considerable energy, heating time, and maintenance. To make your cover last longer, treat it with care and clean it regularly using a mild soap and water. Regular treatment with a special protective solution (COVER CARE, available from our web shop) will provide extra protection from the effects of UV exposure. WARNING: Never stand or sit on the cover, and protect it from contact with rough surfaces.
Cleaning a jet
Remove the jet from the wall of the spa by placing your hand around the outer ring of the jet and turning it counter-clockwise. Keep turning the outer ring until the jet resists. Apply extra pressure until you hear a ‘click’, after which the jet will be detached. Additional pressure is required to detach the holding mechanism from the spa wall.
1. Add some JETCLEANER to a bucket filled with clean tap water, and soak the jets in this solution, rotating the inside of the jet whilst moving it back and forth. This enables water to stream through both ends of the jet, letting the water clean the wall bearing and removing dirt. Clean all parts of the jet for about 1 to 2 minutes, at least twice a year, or whenever one of the jet outlets is slow, jams, or seems blocked. Using BRIGHT & CLEAR, DEFENDER EN RENEW may prevent blocking of the jets. See the WATER MAINTENANCE section for more details.
2. Install the inner part of the jet by inserting it into its respective opening. Turn the jet clockwise, applying light pressure, until you hear the jet lock into the holder. Slight pressure with the tip of a finger should be enough to move the jet outlet from left to right. If the jet outlet still moves slowly, jams, or seems blocked, please repeat step 1.

Cleaning the inside of your spa

To protect the shine of your spa, it is very important not to use cleaning detergents that have an abrasive or a negative chemical effect on the surface of your spa. If you are uncertain about the properties of detergent ingredients, or about their effect on your spa, please contact Spa Service in the Netherlands for advice. Regardless of the cleaning detergent you use, it is important not to leave any soap residue on the surface of your spa, as this might cause heavy foaming when filling it with water.
